What is the difference between backup and disaster recovery?
A backup is a copy of your data you can restore from. Disaster recovery is the whole plan and technology that gets your business working again after an outage, including how fast you recover (RTO) and how much data you can afford to lose (RPO). We provide both: reliable backups, plus failover that starts working systems within minutes.
What is the difference between server backup and cloud application backup?
Server backup protects your on-site infrastructure: whole servers are copied to an on-site appliance and replicated to the cloud, and a failed server can be run from its backup. Cloud application backup protects the data inside services such as Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace. Most businesses need both.
Are Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace already backed up?
Not in the way most people assume. Microsoft and Google guarantee the platform is available, not the recovery of your individual data. If an email, file or Teams message is deleted, accidentally or maliciously, it can be lost for good once retention expires. We add an independent backup of Microsoft 365 (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive) and Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Shared Drives, Contacts and Calendar).
How quickly can you recover our systems after a failure?
It depends on the Recovery Time Objective we agree with you, but with cloud virtualisation your critical servers can be running in a secure off-site environment within minutes of an on-site failure, so staff keep working while hardware is repaired.
How does your backup protect against ransomware?
We keep immutable, air-gapped snapshots isolated from your main network. If ransomware encrypts your live systems, those clean copies can’t be reached or altered by the attacker, so we restore from a known-good copy rather than paying a ransom.
Do you test the disaster recovery plan?
Yes. Automated test failovers verify that your data is uncorrupted and your systems come back as expected, and our team checks the previous night’s backups every morning.
